8:55am to 9:40am. The children's ages range from about 6 to 12 years old. We emphasise training the players to follow/understand a conductor, basic orchestral bowing techniques, read music fluently and work as a section. We are lucky to have volunteers from some of our wonderful older players who come in to help them settle in.

Any time from 9:00 to 11:15 Chamber groups are by invitation. The size of groups vary term to term in order to broaden our repertoire. Players are usually experienced orchestral players looking for a further challenge and will play one person to a part. We currently have 5 string chamber groups coached by 2 professional coaches. Participants are encouraged to learn their notes first so that they can work in more detail on musical detail and communication.

10:35am to 11:05am. The wind Band is a new venture and already growing in numbers. We welcome any wind player from grade 1 plus. Being a small group means there is plenty of chance to ask questions and learn more.

8:55am to 9:40am. An intermediate group for approximately grades 3 to 5+. We emphasise training the players to follow/understand a conductor, basic orchestral bowing techniques, read music fluently and work as a section.
We at the PBCMS all believe that your natural instrument is your own voice and all musicians (in fact everyone!) should have the chance to sing. Singing opportunities are therefore offered to all musicians in the larger groups within their usual rehearsal time.

Beginner recorder groups lessons coached by a professional player. 30 min sessions at ₤6 per week for suggested ages of 6-10years, 9am Saturday mornings. Please purchase an 'aulos' recorder. We recommend this as an excellent introduction to music theory, leading to recorder 'consorts' or orchestral wind lessons. We have concerts with live audiences every term.
